Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic is based on the scientific fact that your body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism.  These important functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body.  The skull protects the delicate tissues of the brain.  The movable bones of the spine protect the vulnerable communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots.

Chiropractic is based on the premise that the human body is fully capable to heal itself when provided the proper environment.

Chiropractic care focuses on achieving and maintaining optimal health status. Doctors of Chiropractic implement a variety of non-pharmaceutical and non-surgical methods to restore proper joint alignment, as well as neurological, biomechanical, and homeostatic function.
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest her or his patients in the care of the human frame, in a proper diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease."

-Thomas A. Edison

Options to obtain optimal health status include numerous safe and effective methods including:

  • Spinal Adjustments (Chiropractic Manipulative Therapy)
  • Extremity Adjustments (Extraspinal Manipulative Therapy)
  • Supportive Therapies (Myofascial release, neuromuscular rehabilitation, kinesio taping, nutrition, exercises/stretches, etc.)

If the nervous system is impaired, it can cause malfunction of the tissues and organs throughout the body inhibiting the natural and innate abilities . Doctors of Chiropractic address this systemic malfunction as the Vertebral Subluxation Complex and specialize in correcting the associated problems to restore health.

Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC)

Through extensive research and study, Doctors of Chiropractic  have identified 5 components of the vertebral subluxation.  Collectively, these elements are known as the “Vertebral Subluxation Complex.” Doctors of Chiropractic detect, correct, and prevent the Vertebral Subluxation; and the resulting complex which produces changes in tone, motion, neurologic, muscular, cellular, general function, and health

Kinesiopathology

The loss of normal vertebral positioning and motion in relation to neighboring vertebrae.

Neuropathology

Irritation or injury to spinal nerve roots and/or spinal cord through compression, stretch or more commonly chemical irritation from nearby spinal structures.

Myopathology

Pathological changes occurring in the spinal musculature which include:
  • Hyper-tonicity
  • Muscle spasms
  • Fibrosis
  • Weakness and improper or inadequate functioning

Histopathology

The biochemical changes taking place in the spinal region which include inflammatory biochemicals from injured tissues and biochemical waste products.

Pathophysiology

Pathological changes which occur to the spinal tissues such as:
  • Abnormal bony growths off the vertebral bodies and joints
  • Fibrosis and adhesions of spinal muscles and ligaments
  • Dehydration and degeneration of spinal discs.
